Digital Technology Department Leader Honda Development & Manufacturing of America

Melissa Vance is the Digital Technology Department Lead within the Production Engineering Business Unit of Honda Development and Manufacturing in Marysville, Ohio. She and her team are leading digital manufacturing initiatives that drive new insights in manufacturing and create improvements in key production metrics while ensuring a secure operating environment for equipment and products in the North America region.

Melissa joined Honda of America Mfg. Inc. in 1997 at the Marysville Auto Plant in Assembly Frame Department primarily focusing on new model development, specifically chassis systems. Over the last 25 years, Melissa has held multiple positions within Honda including supporting auto and power sports manufacturing plants in North America with virtual product/process maturation for new model development, Honda’s Technical Development Center which supports training for equipment service, engineers and operators in manufacturing. From the training center, she shifted her focus to regional delivery management with emphasis on standardization of systems, methods and processes used across the region for manufacturing execution.

In the recent re-organization of Honda’s North America operations, she has been heavily involved in establishing the manufacturing systems, cybersecurity and IoT teams. Melissa is an Ohio native, originally from West Milton, near Dayton. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Technology with a concentration in design analysis from Ohio Northern University. In 2001, she earned a Master of Business Administration from Franklin University. Melissa resides in Bellefontaine with her kids, Mitch, Dylan and Abby.
